CAPE BRETON REGIONAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
Our Hospital
The hospital touches all of our lives in some manner – whether we are a undergoing surgery, taking your son or daughter for an x- ray of a broken bone, or rushing to the emergency department with a sick loved one – the Regional Hospital is always there.
As part of the Cape Breton District Health Authority, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia. As the major referral centre for Cape Breton, the Regional Hospital treats more than 100,000 cases each year providing acute and trauma care, emergency, clinic services and surgery. The Regional Hospital includes a Renal Dialysis Unit, a Pediatrics Unit, the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, MRI services, a Mental Health Unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and an An Cala Palliative Care Unit.
With your help, since 1991, we have raised more than $15M to support enhanced healthcare at the Regional Hospital. You have helped us dramaticaly reduce wait times and provide an increased menu of services - right here where we live and work. Thanks the support from our community, an additional 125 people a day receive care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital instead of travelling to Halifax.
But just like people, equipment experiences more difficulties as it ages. The Cape Breton Regional Hospital now faces a growing need for more modern equipment and enhanced services.
